January-February at a Glance

Spring Blossoms by Ciao Bella Photography

Hi friends, I wanted to stop by and catch up on the last few months…I’ve realized that I skipped a January month-at-a-glance! 2011 has certainly hit the ground running and I feel privileged to have enjoyed so many fun design and blogging experiences. These past few months have been full of developing friendships, especially with those I met at the lavish! conference. I’m exploring my city more too, including a fun trip to Scott Antique Market: Niki and Dayka have great recaps here and here. I was also thrilled to write the Decatur City Guide for Design*Sponge and fall in love with my favorite part of town all over again. All this shopping and brainstorming will lead to more local features and regular post series’, so keep your eyed peeled! As always, thanks for reading along!

The year began with vibrant products from a great cause, the Heart of Haiti campaign that is ongoing at Macy’s. I started a new post series that I just love blogging–art prints with themes from each letter of the alphabet. I found a mix of fun items to spruce up my space.  A good friend shared her recipe for minty, chocolaty, shortbready cookies. I blogged my experience visiting the Atlanta Design Star Auditions–an incredibly fun Saturday afternoon with talented and entertaining people. Amazing tile artist Xenia Taler shared in detail about her work. I discovered a retro deck of cards at my grandmother’s house, a coffee mug that sums up my feelings about the drink, delightfully bright-colored clothespins, and masking tape with style. Another new series focuses on well-designed music videos from favorite singers and songwriters. My most-loved iPhone app, Cartolina, unveiled an Etsy shop with prints of their artwork. Warmer weather inspired me to post my favorite Springy items and images. Now here’s to a new month and a new season!
